If you buy latest SIM card then Aadhaar is mandatory. The Department of Telecommunication (DOT) has instructed all the Indian Telecom operators to verify all the mobile numbers by linking it to the Aadhaar card. As per the instruction all telecom operator started sending the messages to link your Aadhar card with mobile number on customer phone. There is no need to link your landline, broadband or DTH with Aadhar Card.
Register or Link Mobile Number with Aadhaar card
It is mandatory only for mobile numbers. If you don’t complete the linking process before February 2018, services of your mobile number will be disconnected as per the directive of Indian Government.
Register or link your mobile number with Aadhaar – first time
Method A: Update Request from Online Process
If you want to register or link mobile number with Aadhaar card first time then you have to do offline process. In this offline process you have to take given following steps to register or link mobile number with Aadhaar card.
Step 1: Visit your nearest Aadhaar center or visit your nearest retail store and take printout of Aadhaar update or Correction form. You can also download this form, from UIDAI website. ()
Step 2: Fill all the required information correctly. Now, once again check all the filled information properly and submit it to the concern person of the Aadhaar center. Please clearly mention that you want to register or link mobile number with Aadhaar card.
Step 3: Please attach self attested photocopy of your Identity proof (like PAN card, Voter ID Card, Passport etc).
Step 4: He will send a four digit verification code at your mobile number. You have to give this verification code with Aadhaar center or retail store authorised person.
Step 5: Now he will ask for your fingerprint for the bio-metric verification. After done this process successfully within 24 hours you will get a confirmation message final verification. You just press Y and send it again to finish the verification process. Now your mobile number has been successfully linked with Aadhaar card number.
Method B: Update request by Post
Step 1: Download update mobile number request form of UIDAI website.
Step 2: Fill all the required information correctly. Now, once again check all the filled information properly and submit it to the concern person of the Aadhaar center. Please clearly mention that you want to register or link mobile number with Aadhaar card.
Step 3: Please attach self attested photocopy of your Identity proof (like PAN card, Voter ID Card, Passport etc).
Step 4: Please send the updated request form with self attested photocopy of your ID Proof at given one postal address.

Update your Old Mobile Number with New Mobile Number
If you want to update your old mobile number with new mobile number this process can be done online. But before doing this process please make sure your existing number working properly. Because an OTP is send to your existing mobile number. You have to submit the OTP number which is send to your existing number for update mobile number. To do this job you have to take following steps, have a look.
Step 1: From UIDAI website you have to click on the Aadhaar self service update portal option.
Step 2: Fill your unique Aadhaar card number and text verification captcha code in the box and click on the send OTP button. Now, you will get an OTP number on your existing mobile number.
Step 3: Submitting the OTP number you will be redirected to a new page where you can easily updated required details.
Step 4: Select and update the filed or mobile number as per your need now click on the submit button.
